Willowbrook CC Results, PCS #7 and Summer Series #1---Sunday June 11, 2023

We were waiting on a rules clarification from the USGA to an issue from yesterday before full and final results were posted. Sorry for the delay.

We sent 2 emails and made a phone call to the USGA to try and determine course of action. All three responses from Rules Directors were the same so the issue at hand has been resolved.
A player had 15 clubs in their bag and was assessed 2 strokes on the first two holes as per the penalty and Rule 4. Please review Rule 4 so we all understand it.
The main issue however wasn't as clear as one of the clubs in the players bag was a practice training aid. However this training aid by definition was a club and therefore counted as one of their maximum 14 clubs.
The training aid in question was the "Momentus" club. Something like the "Medicus" is also considered a club. A club by definition has a grip, shaft, and head like a normal club even if non conforming.
The rule states that a training aid can be in the bag during the round as long as it is not used, or that a player must declare an additional club to be out of play before starting and not used during.
While this was an honest mistake by the player having the Momentus club in their bag even though the club was not used, a penalty had to be issued by rule, please keep it in mind so it doesn't happen to you in the future.
And also remember that what makes the PGT different is that we do play by strict USGA rules to protect the Field. Sometimes penalties are issued for even minor technicalities, but we have to accept and learn from them under the rules.

#REMINDER-all players MUST promptly and correctly post all their own rounds to GHIN or you may receive a penalty score and/or service charge.....and make sure it is posted as a COMPETITION round if it was a tournament. Also, make sure slope and rating (tees played) is correct, and you should enter scores hole by hole if available to make sure it is properly reduced if needed (max score allowed per hole). If the tees you played are different than what is in the system, you can simply go to www.ghin.com to manually enter course name, slope, rating, and total 18 hole score.
(you have to know if any hole is reduced for posting purposes (max per hole is par + 2 + however many strokes you get on that particular hole based on your current GHIN index).

#NOTE: you must promptly get your round posted after play because the GHIN system updates players indexes every day and we need the differential number for your next tournament handicap calculation.

It only talkes a minute to post your score, but please don't rush through the process and make a mistake. Make sure all the data is entered correctly before you click the final post button. We will display the GHIN reports so players can see if they posted something wrong, and we will correct any mistakes. Players that do not post in a reasonable time frame or continue to post incorrectly will be penalized.

Step by step instructions on how to correctly enter your score is always posted at the registration and scoring table.
It is your responsibility to know how to do this and post it properly to avoid penalty scores and service charges.

Group times were good under 4.5 hours total with only one group out of position, but catching up by the end.
Course was firm and fast but in nice condition after 3 weeks of no rain. Of course rain chased the final couple groups but we all finished dry before the storms rolled in.
Some additional matches were completed in the Year Long Match Play tournament.
